Currently searching for somewhere else to take my dog! I spent $1,000 taking care of my dogs eye at this facility. When my dog ran out of drops they REFUSED to send me a prescription because "he hadn't been seen in a year"...essentially meaning that I hadn't given them enough money for the year. They tried the whole "its what's safe for the patient" ruse. Glaucoma isn't curable, it can only be treated. He has to have his drops everyday or his vision will be compromised. It isn't about his safety, its about the almighty dollar. I even made an appointment for 4 days later and they STILL wouldn't give me the drops. I had to take my dog to another Vet who cared enough about him to see my that day and give him the drops. The receptionist is condescending and completely lacks empathy for you or your animal sticking only with shallow, illogical responses without answering anything directly in a strained "fake nice" tone as your animal suffers. Wow!! I absolutely love Dr. English and his staff. They have treated my Ceasar for awhile and I can personally see the love that is in the air within their office. Dr. English is well experienced and he is the only person I trust in regards to my fur-ball baby. He has even treated my anxiety a couple times regarding my dog's cataracts.. loll I truly appreciate their dedication and I will continue to refer and recommend Animal Eye Care. Read Less

Saw Dr. English a couple weeks ago and he was fantastic! The drive there (I live in Durham) was longer than the visit itself - which is great because my dog was emotionally spent by the car ride so a quick visit was a blessing. Dr. English was thorough and kind to both me and my dog. He went through everything I should look for and what to expect my dog's reaction to treatment would entail - basically she'll be thirsty all the time and beg for food a lot - so no change. The staff was kind and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend. Read Less

I received excellent care for my dog here who turned out to have cancer and needed his eye removed. I have a high needs dog who is very fearful and the staff here went above and beyond to change their workflow to accommodate and best meet his needs. What would normally be a huge stressor for our dog was managed the best way possible because the staff went out of their way!!!! In addition, the price was very fair and reasonable allowing us to provide the care we wanted to be able to provide to our pet. Read Less

What a wonderful place !! Our local vet sent us because our Bassett Hound was suffering from Glaucoma in both of her eyes. It is such a devastating disease and we were so distraught. Dr Fontenelle took so much time with us explaining things, answering questions, and letting us know she cares about what was happening. Every person we have come in contact there has been so friendly and helpful. I could not be happier ! I know when I have to leave my fur baby she is in the best of care! Thank you so much Animal Eye Care ! God Bless you all !Read Less

We think Dr. English and Dr. Fontenelle are both wonderful! They explain everything very carefully, and you leave with a complete description of what they have done for your pet and what is expected of you. My cat had a HORRIBLE experience at this clinic on 12/5/14. He has a problem with his eyes and we were referred by our regular vet to the Eye Care side of the clinic. His eye issue is currently very uncomfortable for him and it was important to get him in asap. To get him in in for a scheduled appointment was going to take two weeks but they could see him in two days if I dropped him off and picked him up at the end of the day which is what I did. Check-in was fine and the person at the desk was very pleasant. Dr. Fisher called me after evaluating him and was very helpful over the phone. However, when I picked him up, a vet tech came to speak to me. Even though I had a detailed conversation over the phone with the doctor, the vet tech sat down with me to "fill me in" as well. She was extremely impressed with herself and, when speaking to me acted as if she was doing me a favor. She didn't seem to have a good handle on what was going on with him, and it was VERY clear she was trying to get us out the door as quickly as possible. It took quite a while for her to bring him out to me. The receptionist told me he had "pooped" in his carrier and they were cleaning it out. When the same vet tech finally brought him out, he was a complete mess (literally and figuratively). She said he had used the bathroom in his carrier and it had gotten all over him. She then (word for word) said to me they "tried to use dry shampoo to get some of it off of him and tried to clean out his carrier...but he's on his own to do the rest." ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I was so shocked and appalled I didn't even know what to say. It could not have been more obvious that he had been confined to his carrier for quite some time like that. He was pretty well covered in it so it was clear the incident didn't just happen and he had been left in that condition for a good while. He's 13 years old and I have NEVER seem him stressed out from a vet visit like he was when she handed him over to me. He was completely unglued, stank to high heaven, and I had to drive home an hour away with him in the car smelling like that. Being in a carrier has never bothered him but he was so upset he was rattling it to get out. It is now the day after and he's still completely unhinged from the experience. I am still reeling from the complete lack of compassion and the callousness displayed by this vet tech. With some care and compassion, she had an opportunity to turn a bad experience into one of compassion and understanding for this poor cat but she was too impressed with herself to be bothered, and her only priority was to get him out of there. She has absolutely no business working with animals, and there is NO excuse whatsoever for this kind of treatment from a place that is supposed to have the best interest of these animals at heart.
